With Butler: Andy Loughnane
About Andy
Andy Loughnane understands the value of teamwork. As President of Austin FC, he has helped build one of the fastest growing brands in American sports today. But even more impressive are the relationships he’s built along the way. Andy’s infectious optimism and genuine humility make him both a great leader and a great person to work with.
We worked closely with Andy and owner Anthony Precourt to create the Austin FC brand years before they would play their first match.
As part of our With Butler series, Andy shares his thoughts on the best way to deliver bad news, the importance of disagreeing with respect, and the type of person he works best with.
In a word or two, how would you describe working with Butler?
Inspirational + creative
What’s the one thing you love most about your job?
I realize that I’m incredibly lucky to occupy what is arguably one the best roles in all of Austin, and as a result there’s more than one thing that I love about my job. I’m extremely fortunate to be working inside of the exact industry that I dreamt of working within since I was very young while at the same time having the fortune to be working for an incredible ownership group.
What’s the most valuable piece of advice someone has given you?
Bad news is best delivered quickly (close second: not every doctor finished at the top of their class).
What quality do you value most in a collaborator?
Somebody who can enter a respectful debate.
Who’s the one person you work best with and why?
Difficult to name just one person without getting in trouble … so the profile of the person I work best alongside is: somebody who occasionally laughs at my jokes, recognizes the value of an executive summary, and is driven to exceed goals.
